Performance eyewear · Branding launching soon

Tynan started in the outdoors, not in a boardroom. We're part of a community of trail runners, hikers and mountain bikers, drawn to the places only our legs can take us. A summit at sunset. A ridgeline before the rest of the world wakes. Standing somewhere hard won while the light changes is the whole reason we go. And out there you learn two things fast. Every gram has to earn its place, and light rules the day.

We grew tired of choosing between eyewear that was brilliant but unaffordable and eyewear that was affordable but forgettable. So we built the pair we always wanted. One understated frame. One adaptive lens that reads the light, from deep tree cover to open ridgeline, so you can read the trail. Trail running first, with a blade style for riders to follow. Genuine quality, honestly priced, with the research to back every choice.

We are making the lens the hero

The idea

From shade to glare and back. One lens that keeps up.

Every trail runner knows the moment. You punch out of dark tree cover into full sun, or drop off a bright ridge into shadow, and for three strides you're running blind. The trail keeps you honest and it keeps you present. Your eyes are reading roots, rocks and the next foot of ground, and the last thing they need is a lens set up for the light you were in ten minutes ago. Fixed lenses force a choice between too dark and too light. An adaptive photochromic lens refuses to choose. It darkens in the open, clears under the canopy, and lets you keep reading the trail from the first climb to the last descent. We engineered ours as a complete system and gave it a name. Tychro™.

Adaptive, wide range lens

A fast photochromic lens engineered to span genuinely light to genuinely dark. We chose it after benchmarking the technology across the industry's best.

Understated by intention

The lifestyle silhouette worn by the world's best trail runners, not a race day costume. From the trailhead to the coffee after, one pair does it all.

Featherweight, planted

Engineered to the weight band where frames disappear. Light enough to forget, gripped to stay put through sweat and descent.

Materials that earn it

Genuine premium frame polymers, quality hinges, hydrophilic contact points. The details you feel at hour three, not the ones on a billboard.

Evidence, not hype

Every performance claim we make will be tested before we make it. On the bench, in the lab, and on the trail with real runners.

Australian, and proud of it

Designed in Australia for the harshest light on earth, and built to meet Australia's mandatory sunglasses standard from day one.

Lens & frame technology

Tychro™. A complete performance lens system

An optical nylon lens with adaptive photochromic tint, hardened, glare managed and weather sealed as one engineered package. Six elements, each chosen deliberately, so the lens is fit for purpose and at its best when you need it most.

Bio TR90 Frame

A frame you forget you're wearing. Moulded from TR90, the flexible, impact resistant memory polymer trusted across performance eyewear, in a bio based grade partially derived from castor plants rather than petroleum alone. It is light enough to disappear on a long run and tough enough to be dropped, sat on and thrown in a pack. High gloss finish, with spring hinges that hold their fit.

Optics without compromise

Nylon Lens

Optical grade nylon is lighter than conventional polycarbonate and carries noticeably less colour distortion, so edges stay crisp and terrain reads true at speed. It is impact resistant enough for the trail, with 100% UVA and UVB protection built into the lens material itself rather than a coating that can wear away.

Tychro™ Adaptive Photochromic

Light moves fast on the trail. Deep tree cover one minute, open ridgeline the next. Our photochromic lens moves with it, darkening in sunlight and clearing in shade, in three tints. Slate and Amber are chosen for true colour and terrain contrast. Ice is for the look of the moment. One lens for the whole run, from first light at the trailhead to midday exposure.

Kill the dazzle

Polarised

Reflected glare off water, wet rock and bitumen is scattered light your eyes have to fight through. A polarising filter strips it out before it reaches you, lifting contrast and easing eye strain on long, bright days in the open.

Water & Smudge Repellent

Hydrophobic and oleophobic top coats on both lens faces mean rain beads and rolls instead of sheeting, and sweat and fingerprints wipe clean instead of smearing. The lens you clean with the hem of a shirt at hour three, and keep running.

Hardened, Anti Glare Lens

A hard coat bonded to both faces of the lens shields the optics from the life a trail pair actually lives. Dust wiped off mid run, pockets shared with keys, weeks riding loose in a pack. An antireflective coating on the back surface kills the glare that bounces off the inside of the lens in low sun. Layered protection, so clarity lasts seasons, not weeks.

Tychro™ is a trade mark of Tynan.
